• Specify axial and radial loads applied to the gearbox input and output shafts.
  • The loads are used to calculate the L10h exected bearing life of the input and output shaft bearings.
  • L10h is the expected life in hours with a 10% failure rate.
  • You can manually enter a load value, or use the calculated value by clicking the corresponding blue arrow buttons.
  • The calculated loads are based on the application requirements.
    • In the example below, the gearbox is driving a rack and pinion mechanism with a 20° helix angle on the rack. Therefore there are calculated values for both an axial and radial load applied to the shaft.
  • In the example below:
    • No forces are applied to the input shaft.
    • At the output shaft:
      • The maximum and mean axial loads are entered manually at 250N and 150N respectively
      • The calculated maximum and mean radial loads are used, which are 379.7N and 199.55N respectively
