Solution to Disrupted SERVOsoft Updates & License Validation
Jun. 14, 2014 6:35pm EDT
Dear SERVOsoft Users,
Further to yesterday's announcement, we have learned some more details and have a solution.
Working with our web hosting company, it appears that our web site was under a "Denial of Service" (DOS) attack this week. Therefore, our web hosting company was correct in making security changes to our web server. You will appreciate that in these times, Internet security is an issue of paramount importance. These changes that were made on Wednesday must remain to protect our web server.
Therefore, we have released a SERVOsoft update that works with the new tigher security configuration on our web server, and therefore allows program and database updates and license validation checks.
You need to install SERVOsoft v3.2.575 or newer, which is available at our Downloads page.
Make sure to download the appropriate version for you - ACT or DGL.
What does the problem look like?
If you are running SERVOsoft v3.2.573 or earlier, depending on your program version, when making a program or database update, you will see "Able to connect, but not able to download (Error: 10013 Access denied)", or some variation thereof.
How does this affect you?
- Program and Database Updates have been disrupted
- This affected all users that use SERVOsoft to check for program and database updates.
- This affected all users that use SERVOsoft to check for program and database updates.
- License Validation has been disrupted
- License Validation is where SERVOsoft ACT connects to the ControlEng server to validate the user's license.
- License validation occurs on first run after an install, and every 40-60 days or so thereafter.
- License validation only applies to some ACT licenses.
- DGL users were not affected.
Again we thank you for your patience and understanding and apologize for any inconvenience which may resulted to you.
Yours truly,
Christian Vardin, P.Eng
